Fundraising Strategy, Strategic Business Planning and Sustainability Planning

What is it?

We tend to develop long term relationships with our clients and work alongside them to help them review or even to develop their strategic business plan. As part of this work we look carefully at the long term sustainability and viability of their organisation and work together to develop a holistic fundraising strategy which will help support them in the short, medium and longer term.

Sometimes we work with organisations only once, but more usually we work with our clients over a number of years.

Why is it useful?

By getting to know our clients well we become more effective and efficient at how we work with them. Once understand their organisation in more detail, including the products and services that it offers, we can readily develop an initial funding strategy which is appropriate to the size and nature of the organisation.

Once the initial bids have been submitted we may be brought back in, say on a quarterly basis, to monitor and review the funding strategy as well as work up the next funding bids or business models in their strategy.

Working closely with clients enables us to identify different ways of funding the organisation and so reduce their dependence on their main funder. Although many charities and VCOs are involved in delivering public service contracts today we are also very much aware of the continual pressure to reduce contract prices whilst at the same time increase contract volumes.

Who is this suitable for?

We work with small and medium charities to look at the whole of their funding strategy. Sometimes we work with larger organisations to look at specific aspects of their overall plans. E.g. to support a particular department or an innovative pilot scheme.

There are special discount rates for established clients who engage us in the longer term where we support their funding strategy each year, provide quarterly board presentations on fundraising performance and manage funding bid deadlines etc.

How much does this cost?

We would charge a standard daily rate plus travel and expenses. We would agree a detailed action plan and costing schedule before the work started.
